A unique wedding venue

Postlip's tithe barn is a magnificent medieval listed building nestled in a sleepy hamlet by the source of the River Isbourne. Everything about the tithe barn is authentic: the awe-inspiring oak beams, the lovingly cared for Cotswold stone roof, the massive limestone walls and the pocket of meadow it sits in. 

Rural and rustic

The barn doors open out onto a small meadow, which provides a versatile extension to the barn for outdoor activities, games, bouncy castles or just a bit of fresh air. 

Bordered on two sides by a gently burbling stream and a large, recently restored, pond, the secluded natural beauty provides a breath-taking backdrop for weddings and receptions.

The barn plays an integral part in community life at Postlip Hall. Out of the ‘party’ season it is used for repair, maintenance and construction projects and for storage of produce from our kitchen garden. During warmer months it’s proved a perfect setting for people looking for a venue that allows them to express their individuality because it offers them the freedom to organise their own catering, decoration and celebration.

Barn facilities

Wedding parties have exclusive use of the barn, the meadow and access to the grounds around Postlip Hall by prior agreement. Our top terrace, woodland glade and pavilion are perfect for drinks or photography in good weather. 

The barn itself is licensed for civil ceremonies so you can get married in the barn before the reception. There are also areas of the grounds available for non-religious, non-legal ceremonies (eg. handfasting, humanist). 

The barn has ample power sockets, a kitchenette and bar with hot and cold running water and an adjacent loo block with disabled access. There is parking in the meadow next to the barn for about 50 cars, but most organisers arrange for a minibus to avoid guests having to choose between drinking and driving.

2025 prices

The cost of hiring the barn for your wedding reception - which includes the day before and the day after the event - is £3,900. 

If you would like to include a licensed ceremony in your day then the cost is £4,500 total. Please note that this does not include the registrars' own fee - the extra charge we make is a proportion of our venue license fee.

6 miles from Cheltenham

Tucked away on the north east side of Cleeve Hill, the barn is set at the end of a private track which joins the A4632 between Cheltenham and Winchcombe. It is 16 miles from Gloucester 

The wedding season

We hire out the barn from May to September, excluding August when Postlip’s wedding volunteers are on holiday. From mid July the barn is booked for the Cotswold Beer Festival.

Capacity

The barn is approximately 30m x 9m and there is a 5 metre square stage at one end. It is licensed for:
•   200 standing
•   150 seated
