Pet Agreement
We appreciate the joy and affection pets often provide. Our past experience has shown us that some animals co-house better than others! This agreement is intended to promote a harmonious relationship among pets, pet owners, and non-pet-owners and a peaceful, clean, and safe environment for all.
New applicants:
Two important factors for new applicants to consider are:
It may help anyone thinking of introducing a dog to Postlip (either as a member or a visitor) to consider that having a dog at Postlip is more akin to having a dog in a flat than in an individual home with a private garden.
Indoor Pets:
These are the responsibility of the household in which they live unless they cause complaint beyond the walls of their living unit (such as noise).
New applicants:
Two important factors for new applicants to consider are:
- To protect our bird and small mammal population we will keep an eye on the total number of cats living at Postlip. To facilitate this and out of courtesy for others, members will discuss plans to bring new cats to Postlip with the rest of PHA.
- Postlip has had a “no dog policy". There are currently no dogs within the community, however, we will consider incoming members with existing dogs on a case-by-case basis. Acceptance would then be dependent upon PHA meeting the dog and the incoming member agreeing to abide by the general elements of this agreement. All members agree that, once resident, they will not bring any new dogs into the community.
- Pet owners are responsible for preventing negative incidents and dealing with problems, including a commitment to be open, gracious and responsive to comments about their pet(s). They should be willing to address concerns about their pet(s) that may be/become a problem to their neighbours and to address serious incidents immediately.
- Dogs do not have access to communal spaces, indoor or outdoor, other than in the company of their owner.
- No pets are allowed in the Hall or Courtyard without permission of all those present.
- Pet owners are responsible for any property damage caused by their pets.
- To discourage strays, pet food is not to be left outside.
- PHA may immediately exclude any pets that deliberately hurt or threaten people, other pets or community livestock.
- Visitor’s pets, along with their owners, are subject to our visitors agreement. Community members are responsible for the pets of their visitors, and are expected to ensure that their visitors understand and adhere to this agreement.
- A dog may accompany its owner off the lead only if it remains under control and the owner takes responsibility for clearing up after it.
- Postlip Community expects all pets living here to be well cared for and looked after including ensuring that appropriate veterinary guidance is followed.
