Vision
|
Postlip is an established community where people of all generations come together and make up a “village under one roof “. We provide a supportive, safe and tolerant environment where children and adults have freedom to grow and develop as individuals. We enjoy good relations with each other and with our wider community. We actively co-operate, finding “someone to lift the other end”. Stewardship of the walled garden, Hall, Tithe Barn and grounds, which make up our home and the places we work and play, is important to us as is leaving Postlip a better place for those who follow.

Mission |
We work together to maintain, repair and care for the buildings we live in.
We tend our organic garden and animals and live well, although not self-sufficiently, from them. We spend one whole weekend and one Saturday a month working together on the house, garden and grounds. Sometimes this is with the help of WWOOF volunteers and it always involves tea, cake and wine. We encourage children to be inquiring and expressive. We offer them a safe place to discover and learn amongst their friends, with the guidance and care of “a village” of grown ups. We come together to enjoy one another’s company on a frequent but untimetabled basis. We accept one another’s differences and try to resolve conflict with generosity. We host weddings and events which provide financial support to enable us to pay for materials and work that we are unable to undertake ourselves. We share Postlip with the local community by encouraging local schools, forest schools, arts groups and others to make use of the grounds. We host performances so that we can share interests in music, storytelling, drama, film and art and anything else we fancy. We meet formally once a month to ensure good governance. We meet informally once a month to discuss new ideas, projects and challenges. We laugh a lot. Community is far too important to be taken seriously. |
