Can three people build a world? How about a world within that world and then another one within that?

With no elaborate costumes or no props, Daniel Morden, Oliver Wilson-Dickson and Sarah Moody create worlds within worlds with words and stringed soundscapes. Together they bring to life a magical realm complete with Kings, Princesses and Princes. There is a quest, there are demons, there is magic and danger and death. It was beautiful.

Once upon a time I met a man in a pub and he said, would you like to work for Marilyn Monroe.....

What followed was a whirlwind few months for Jean Bray who became very close with this remarkable woman at a turbulent time. She has many stories to tell which will be intertwined with songs performed by Hannah Davey and John Stillman that Marilyn made famous.

Hannah is rapidly staking her claim as a mainstay classical soprano and jazz performer, with her professional engagements now taking her across the country performing song recitals, oratorio and orchestral concerts. Notable solo engagements include a UK tour with Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway performing Bach Arias with double flute obligato, Mozart Mass in C Minor and Handel Messiah at King’s Place, London with the Orchestra of St John’s and Bach St John Passion with Cheltenham Bach Choir at Tewkesbury Abbey.

Hannah was the soprano soloist in a live recording of Mozart Requiem with the Orchestra of St John’s at St Johns Smith Square, London, released on CD Autumn 2014.
Hannah also regularly performs jazz and blues and sings with the Derek Paravicini Jazz Quartet alongside Ben Holder (violin), Ollie Howell (drums) and Derek Paravicini (piano). Highlights include the Hilton, Mayfair, Dorchester Abbey and a live performance and interview on BBC Radio 3 In Tune. Their debut album was released on Absolute Records in November 2013.
Alongside her performance career, Hannah leads vocal masterclasses and teaches singing privately. She works with the charity Music for Autism which provides high calibre performance for children and adults with special needs.

Events at Postlip

In the past we have hosted Cromwellian banquets, held a butterfly festival, exhibited tribal rugs, held a 2CV race, and filled the grounds with sculpture – Postlip is pretty versatile. We are always open to new ideas and opportunities which appeal to us and/or have the promise of raising money to help maintain and restore the house and Tithe Barn. The woods and grounds are regularly used, both recreationally and educationally, by local school parties and organisations such as the Scouts and Forest School.

We run events in the Great Hall and Tithe Barn to share Postlip and make connections with the local community, as well as to help pay for the maintenance of our historic buildings. Many people enjoy our concerts, comedy, story-telling, music and drama.

For the last few years we have been programming events to take place by the fireside in the Great Hall during the colder months. A few recent events include: Ed Donovan, ALAW, The Devil's Violin Company performing their blend of live music and spoken word to bring to life their new show "Forbidden Door"; a very moving play titled State of Grace by Postlip's own Reckless Theatre Company, a fantastic performance by renowned Orkney folk duo The Wrigley Sisters; and the Garlic Theatre's delightful puppet show for children of all ages "There's a Monster in My Piano".

We hire out our beautiful Tithe Barn for weddings four times a year and the Great Hall for parties, exhibitions, private concerts and other occasions. Please see our Hiring the Barn page or contact H eather for more information.
