Choosing one another
If you’re interested in exploring the possibility of living at Postlip then we’d ask you to tell us a bit about yourself, why you’d like to join us and what you’d be bringing to the community. We would also like you to ask us about whatever is important to you. If we think you might fit in then we’ll assign somebody in the house to be your contact and to arrange an initial first visit of a few hours.
We hope you’ll be asking yourself, ‘Could I really live with these people?’ because that’s what each of us will be considering. This is an important decision for everybody, so we aim for consensus and we all think about it very carefully.

If you and we all want to go on exploring possibilities, then we'll arrange more visits and, in between times, your contact will stay in touch and share more information with you. Your contact will answer your questions. Ultimately, if you and we all agree then you’ll be invited to join, and that’s when the legal purchasing process begins.
We actively encourage applications from a broad range of backgrounds and experience.
When can I join?
You can only join Postlip if one of our families leaves and makes space for you. This is because almost every bit of the Hall is part of somebody's home and our rules, as an Industrial and Provident Society, don't allow us to sub-let part of a unit, a co-housing term for a living space/home/flat/apartment.
We are currently a full house, but if we are looking for new members there will be a Units for Sale link in the navigation. We are, however, always interested in meeting new families who may be thinking of joining a community such as ours. Even when we are not active in looking for families to join our community there may be an opportunity to start exploring the possibility for the future. Do email us to find out more.
How you buy
The unit will have been valued by independent RICS valuers. We then add our legal costs and other associated costs to get the advertised valuation. When your solicitor and ours are ready to conclude, we’ll trigger an adjustment of value process to allow for house prices having gone up or down.
A few Postlip members have mortgages on their units and we may be able to advise you on lenders who may lend on Postlip units.
